For admission into the Upgrade Programme at Southwestern University, the minimum entry requirements include:

  • A Higher National Diploma attained at an accredited Polytechnic
  • National Youth Service Corps Certificate(Discharged / Exclusion / Exemption)
  • A pass grade in a written administered by the institution

Computer Science

O’ Level Requirement

  • Candidates require five (5) credits in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or General Certificate of Education or its equivalent which must include English Language and Mathematics and the three recommended subjects for the study.

Degree Requirement (HND and 3rd Class Degree)

  • Candidates require a minimum of lower credit in HND (Higher National Diploma) in Computer Science and other related fields.
  • Candidates must have obtained a 3rd Class Degree in a related field from any other recognized University

Accountancy

  O’ Level Requirement

  • Candidates require five (5) credits in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination credits or General Certificate of Education or its equivalent, comprising of English Language and Mathematics and any three recommended subjects.

Degree Requirement (HND and 3rd Class Degree)

  • Candidates require a minimum of lower credit in HND in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Insurance and other related fields
  • Candidates must have obtained a 3rd Class Degree in a related field from any other recognized University

Professional Qualification

  • Candidates must hold a certificate from accepted professional bodies such as Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Association of National Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN) and Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and any other related body.

Administration and Management

O’ Level Requirement

  • Candidates require Five O-Level credit passes comprising of English Language, Mathematics and any three relevant subjects from Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Government, Geography at not more than two sittings.

Degree Requirement (HND and 3rd Class Degree)

  • Candidates require a minimum of lower credit in HND (Higher National Diploma) in Business Administration, Marketing, Secretarial Studies and other related fields
  • Candidates must have obtained a 3rd Class Degree in a related field from any other recognized University

Professional Qualification

  • Candidates must be holders of a certificate from recognised professional bodies such as the Cognate Field Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Chartered Institute of Administration (CIA), Nigerian Chartered Institute of Management (NCIM), Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), Nigerian Chartered Institute of Management (NCIM) and any other related body

Mass Communication

O’ Level Requirement

  • Candidates require five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language and four (4) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.

Degree Requirement (HND and 3rd Class Degree)

  • Candidates require a minimum of lower credit in HND (Higher National Diploma) in Mass Communication, Journalism and other related fields
  • Candidates must have obtained a 3rd Class Degree in a related field from any other recognized University

Professional Qualification

  • Holders of a certificate from recognised professional bodies such as Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Chartered Institute of Advertising (CIA) and other related fields

Microbiology

O’ Level Requirement

  • Candidates require Five Five (5) credits in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or General Certificate of Education or its equivalent which must include English Language and Mathematics and any other three recommended subjects in Microbiology.

Degree Requirement (HND and 3rd Class Degree)

  • Candidates with a minimum of lower credit in HND (Higher National Diploma) in Microbiology and other related fields
  • Candidates must have obtained a 3rd Class Degree in a related field from any other recognized University

 Biochemistry

O’ Level Requirement

  • Candidates require five (5) credits in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or General Certificate of Education or its equivalent which must include English Language and Mathematics and any other three recommended subjects in Biochemistry.

Degree Requirement (HND and 3rd Class Degree)

  • Candidates with a minimum of lower credit in HND (Higher National Diploma) in biochemistry and other related fields
  • Candidates must have obtained a 3rd Class Degree in a related field from any other recognized University

Walk-in Application Method:

  1. Pay the sum of N10,000 for application form into SouthWestern University account of any branch of:
