Biochemistry is one of the most significant sciences of contemporary times. This program is all about the study of the molecular basis of life and will get you acquainted with all aspects of current biochemistry. Our lecturers would offer you the practical knowledge and skills which would be required of you in the future to work in a scientific research environment, you would also gain several transferable skills to start up a career in numerous other fields, some of which may not even be science-related.
At Southwestern University, it is our priority to ensure that our students are skilled in all aspects of Biochemistry from the more theoretical parts and research practices up to recent technological advancements. Some interesting areas of research that students may explore before their graduation include the biochemistry of certain micro-organisms that are known to be locally significant in Nigeria, soil biochemistry etc.

The minimum entry requirement for admission into the Biochemistry program at Southwestern University are:
Credit level passes in 5 relevant subjects at (SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB) O’ Level result or its equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings and with JAMB/JUPEP/IJMB/OND/HND, Advance Level result.
UTME REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must sit for the current JAMB UTME exams and attain the National cut off mark as a statutory requirement for entry into a Nigerian University.
